STEERING SYSTEM

Shaft SteeringAntares Yachts uses a premium Jefa™ shaft and gearbox system. This system is superior to other steering systems such as wire or hydraulic in terms of precision, feedback and integrity. The robust shaft steering is ideal for a blue water cruising yacht.

FULLY PROTECTED SKEGGED RUDDERS

Protected RuddersThe engineered rudders on the Antares catamaran are custom built to protect the rudder. The two sides of the rudder are constructed from fiberglass with a core center. This core center significantly reduces the weight of the rudders. The skegs make the rudder stocks resistant to bending and allow us to use a lighter stainless steel stock without any sacrifice to strength. In the absence of a skeg, the stock material would have to be stronger and therefore heavier, but would remain vulnerable to bending.

CORECELL CORING

Corecell CoringCoring is a structural stiffener sandwiched between two layers of fiberglass skin. Coring is particularly important to a catamaran builder because of the need to create stiffness with reduced weight. Antares uses a product called Corecell (pictured on top) in the hull and deck construction. Corecell is a high-density foam core known for its impermeability to water, toughness, light weight and resistance to impact.

HULL PROTECTION

Hull ProtectionIn the event that you are moored next to a pillar or pier and the fenders move (and you know they will), the strong hull/deck joint construction would be the first thing impacted. That in combination with the rub rail situated on the stiffening ridge on the hull, are your first line of defense against concrete fuel docks and pillars.

LINE MANAGEMENT

Line ManagementOn the Antares, the lines are lead down the mast and through a bridgedeck raceway to 2 power winches located in the cockpit - a sheet winch at the helm and a halyard winch on the aft pedestal.

The lines stow neatly into integrated lockers, keeping decks clear of lines and organizers, and keeping your lines away from extended UV exposure.

LIGHTWEIGHT WOOD INTERIOR

Wood InteriorMore than 65 hand-crafted cupboards and drawers accentuate the spacious interior with curved counters and rounded edges. Using unconventional materials like Tricel - a durable and lightweight honeycomb board sandwiched between 2 layers of cherry veneer - we have perfected distinctive methods working with new materials. Tricel can be shaped and formed to remove sharp angles onboard. Another major benefit to using these materials is the ability to keep the weight off the catamaran.

VINYL-DIPPED DACRON TRAMPOLINE

Premium TrampolineThe custom-cut trampoline material is made from a vinyl-dipped polyester that is both mildew and UV resistant. The trampoline is mounted on tracks that run all the way around the frame with a lace section down the center and front to allow us to properly tighten and adjust the material.

FULL ENGINE INSTRUMENTATION

Engine InstrumentationThe instrumentation panel includes push-button engine start and individual gauges for engine temperature, water temperature, oil pressure, charge voltage, and tachometer/hour meter.
